If there were nine pound bluegills they'd turn your boat over. Hard to believe how strong they are for their size.

About landing fish in mossy ponds--keep the rod tip just as high as you can. That includes holding it high over your head. This works with fly rods, and even with shorter rods too. Seems to encourage fish not to burrow into the moss, which always means a lost fish and often means lost lures.

A two pound bass on a light fly rod can be a memorable experience. CB
