My polling place is a church. They have a several year's old sign on the door with the no handgun symbol with text "prohibited by law" beneath. We know that is not the case for Oklahoma law; not the issue here. A previous polling place was a public school. It and its grounds surrounding it were covered by state law.
It would be interesting to know if polling places donate their facility to the County on election day or what.
IMO for the portion of the day that the election process is underway, that portion of the facility, whoever owns/operates it, is the government doing business with the public. That is whether the facility is being reimbursed or not.
