Bead blast it. Then burnish/polish the stainless on a lathe with emory cloth.

Every cerekoted piece mist first be bead blasted prior to finishing... Trust me, it ain't shiny stainless underneath

If you're patient enough, I suppose you could sand it off, by hand... But it would take some skill to get it even enough for a good looking polish job
