I get a call yesterday from my wife who is at the mall. Her van won't start and she needs a jump. I start that way, but she shares how she asked a man who was walking to his car with his wife and kids. The man told my wife and 3 kids, "I don't have jumper cables". My wife says "I do!". He then says, "we are in a hurry and don't have time."

What if it was his wife and kids stranded with a car that won't start. Just makes me angry and only solidifies my belief that society has turned on itself. The mall security beat me to her and assisted with a jump, but if by some chance that guy is a member here... You suck!

There are times I judge a situation to be questionable and won't put myself in that situation, but I can't tell you the number of times I've changed a tire for, pulled over to loan a Cell phone, give some support of any kind. Most memorable is when an older lady was trying to change a tire at a full QT and not a single person around her was helping. I walked out of the store and had it changed in 5 minutes while all the worthless people around watched in amazement that I wasn't wearing a AAA shirt.

How is it that fathers are falling so far down on the job? If my three boys ever turned their back on someone in need, I'd be very disappointed in them and in myself for not showing them the right way. I so miss country life where your neighbors are helpful and willing to lend a hand.

Rant over, my wife and kiddos got home safe and I replaced their battery.

If that guy is a member here... You really suck!

I don't know what you mean Jesse. I've changed 3 tires, given gas, and offered to atleast 3 more in the last few months. Just yesterday gave a guy a ride.
There are still a few people who are willing to give up a few minutes of their time.
I think most are afraid of the dangers of being involved.

I've done a lot of that to help others. Loaning your phone reminds me of this one.

I was working at the fair doing inspections and had stopped to finish some paperwork. A lady approached me and asked if she could use my phone cause she needed some help. I handed her my phone and she made her call. She had walked a couple of steps away, but not far enough that I couldn't hear her side of the conversation.

She called her boyfriend telling him that she was calling from a "borrowed" phone warning him that her husband might be looking for him because of some things he had found out. The call went on for several minutes and she finally hung up and handed it back to me and said "thanks" and walked away.

It never happened, but I was expecting some irate phone calls and harassment cause she was calling from my number and not one they recognized.

I would have given your wife a jump. And dont give up on people, I make my five year old hold the door open for people, and am working on getting him to open his sisters car door.
