When cleaning my guns, I like to use good ol' Hoppes #9. However, I have a newborn in the house and need to start using something without the heavy smell. I've seen other threads giving advice about good/bad cleaners, but none about which ones do a good job without the snortin' paint thinner high.

(And, yes, I've considered just taking it all outside. Sometimes, I like to sit at my desk and clean inside the house.)

Any suggestions?

CLP and Hoppe's are preferred no doubt, but Rem Oil has worked well for cleaning my guns after a range visit. I don't think it would clean serious leading, but for getting the oils from handling and powder residue off, it has worked for me.

I have an 18-month old and used Rem Oil for this same reason.
