"Cloture

The cloture rule–Rule 22–is the only formal procedure that Senate rules provide for breaking a filibuster. A filibuster is an attempt to block or delay Senate action on a bill or other matter. Under cloture, the Senate may limit consideration of a pending matter to 30 additional hours of debate."

He voted for cloture on the Manchin-toomey bill too, because he "wanted to hear debate" on it, then voted against the bill (although, I believe he would have voted for it if we hadn't put so much pressure on him, since he outright said doctors should be able to decide who can have guns and who can't). Seems to be his MO.

I'll never understand the dislike of Coburn from some people. If we had 51 Senators with his fiscal inclinations, we could get the budget properly straightened out. He's a representative in a representative democracy. We elect the person whom we feel in our best interests. Then he does so. If we feel he has failed at that mission, he can lose the next election. Point is, I don't expect him to agree with me on every single point of every single issue. I respect the man and his general ideology. I would FAR rather have him be my Senator than just about anybody else you can name. When Coburn leaves the Senate, I fully expect to see his replacement as inferior.

Politicians have three goals, and three goals only: (1) Get elected by any means possible, legal or illegal, moral or not. (2) Once in office, stay in office by any means necessary, legal or illegal, moral or not. (3) While in office, steal every dollar possible, legal or illegal, moral or not. Beyond those goals, they care for NOTHING!

There are some exceptions. Few, but some.
