College of the Ozarks, private Christian school, drops Nike over Kaepernick ad

A private Christian college in Missouri announced Wednesday that its athletic teams would no longer wear apparel manufactured by Nike after the sportswear giant tapped Colin Kaepernick as one of the faces of its 30th anniversary "Just Say No" campaign.

College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis said in a statement that Nike's choice of Kaepernick was "promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America."

"If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them," Davis went on. "We also believe that those who know what sacrifice is all about are more likely to be wearing a military uniform than an athletic uniform."

College of the Ozarks, which has approximately 1,400 undergraduates, competes in six sports -- baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, track and volleyball -- as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Last year, the college added a stipulation to competition contracts, saying it would walk away from any game where the opposing team took a knee, sat or turned its back on the flag or anthem.

Over the weekend, Nike announced a multiyear agreement with Kaepernick including his own apparel line, video ads and billboards featuring his image, and a contribution to the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback's Know Your Rights charity.

A two-minute commercial narrated by and featuring Kaepernick was released Wednesday and is expected to air during college football and Major League Baseball games this weekend, as well as during the NFL season opener between the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.
Good for them. That is one heck of a college. We make a point every time we are in the Branson area to get reservations at their restaurant. Almost everything on the menu is grown or raised right there.

It's a sad situation for our country when a second string, soon to be out of a job quarterback in the National Fawking Loser league can alter our country at this level. The NFL is suffering although the shoe company is not. Meetings this week to discuss why the lower attendance. Are you freeking kidding me? Nike may be the demographic of the millennials, but guess what, that is not the demographic of the National Fawking Losers league. They are hurting and justifiably so for not having a set of balls to put a stop to this from the beginning, and I'm talking
th
kaepernick
What is really sad is that the majority of these dumb a$$es are citing examples of "police brutality" in cases of Missouri, Brooklyn etc where it never happened. They are so stupid they can't even research the very things they are protesting.

It closed at +0.40% with the closing bell.

The Social Justice Movement is fueled by a false narrative that evokes outrage, but it lacks basis in reality. It is a Leftist attack intended to weaken our society by undermining public confidence in law enforcement. This is a perfect example of how when the will and the desire to believe are strong enough people can see fairies, too.

Under Armour is an official sponsor of the NFL. LOL.
The NFL has an official rule against kneeling during the national anthem.

Under the new rule, players who choose to be on the field during the anthem will be required to stand. If a player or team employee is on the field during the anthem and chooses not to stand, that player’s franchise will be fined by the NFL. In turn, players and employees who choose to attend the anthem ceremonies but do not stand will also be eligible for a fine by their franchise, if the team chooses to levy one.
