Here, but occasionally There.
I'm 76 years old and have NEVER put up outside lights (for ANY holiday), and now that we live in an RV full time, if we happen to put up any tree at all, it is a very short one given to us by our youngest son after we moved into it.

Sadly, the only "present" that will fit under it is jewelry.

Wanna know my opinion? Not that it matters because it applies to me only.

If Bob wants to leave lights up year round, Betty wants to put them up only after thanksgiving and take them down on New Years, and I don’t want to put them up ever; then that’s just fine. Your house, your decorations.

You could set that on top of a small flat box with “maybe” a new pistol inside.

My oldest granddaughter puts our tree up, I can usually delay it a week or so. Halloween comes down and Christmas, at her house. Her hubby is as bad or worse. He does outside lights, then his Mom's, and then ours. I have to take them down. Sometime between New Year and Easter.

With this being great-granddaughter FIRST Christmas, they put the tree up and lights out, on Halloween.

5 houses on our block, ours is the only one with lights outside.

I like Christmas. The one time family makes an effort to get together that isn't a funeral.

What you want, I don't care, go for it.

Retail has literally ruined Christmas. The kid in me likes gifts, I love to give gifts. When you are taking down Halloween decor to put out Christmas decor in Home Depot, Lowe's or the like it just PO's me to no end. We no longer savor the holidays, we move on to consume the items of the next holiday. The urgency spreads like a virus, everyone winds up hating strangers.
