I always soak them overnight with a little baking soda in the water, but the part about that making them not be gassy is fake news.🤣
Works for me is all I know. Maybe the baking soda negates the chemistry?
Plain water releases an enzyme that causes gas, it really is just simple chemistry.

Ok, I’ve been watching cooking and recipe videos again, and though I’m not really a fan of Texas Roadhouse food, I do like their sweet cinnamon butter and rolls.
Here’s the copycat recipe of the cinnamon butter…
One stick of butter (softened)
1/4 cup of powdered sugar
1.5 TBSP honey
1.5 tsp cinnamon
Mix it up good and enjoy.
My wife was skeptical, but after the first bite, I’m pretty sure she’s going to give me some hot lovin tonight for making this for her. :thumb:

It’s a question of if you have the bacteria in you gut or not to help digest them more. Water has zero to do with it. Baking soda is for making them soft faster.

I think its a combination of soaking and having good bacteria in ya.

When the beans reach the large intestine, good bacteria break them down to digest them further. This leads to the production of gas. Soaking can help remove some of the oligosaccharides and make it easier for your body to break down the beans, making it less likely for you to have gas after eating them.
