I don't know the real reason but momma deer took that s*** real personal. My guess is momma's baby is nearby and she's protecting her baby, not necessarily the rabbit.
The fawn distress call and rabbit distress call are real similar maybe only differing by pitch.
If you listen carefully after the hawk? lands you can hear the bunny sounding the distress call and then in runs the deer!
Oh, by the way a warrant was issued for the offending deer for killing a protected species, not using a approved hunting weapon, hunting on private property without written permission, hunting with out a license, unethical abuse of another animal, failure to stop once the threat was over, and probably a few more..........

The deer is a Democrat, so the law doesn't apply.
And here we have it...the way that even the most mundane post can't go without politics.

That hawk won't do that again.
The deer was also in the wrong because it did not stop the pummeling when it recognized the hawk was no longer a threat. It continued to beat the hawk to death, therefore the deer must be charged with voluntary avicular slaughter.
