I'm new to this chest freezer business....got one a few months ago and have been buying extra stuff each trip to the grocery store to stock up some and she's pretty full....but I know I need to cycle stuff through to keep it as fresh as possible and keep some sort of inventory. Currently I know there's a bunch of meat and veggies in there but no clue how much of what.

So, any tips on organizing things? Do you keep detailed inventory?

We have been organizing our upright. When we buy meat we vacuum seal and write the date on each. This helps us rotate our meat and other foods.
We also use white baskets that the wife bought at the Dollar Store for different items. Oldest on top.

It has really helped us buy buying extra beef, chicken, pork and ground turkey. Every two weeks we go to Costco and set aside funds for reserve foods.
