I'm going to say, based on the shot of the spelunker... Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Sulphide and Hydrogen Chloride are amongst the list of items not to be inhaled in mass quantities.

These gases are present in calderas with very little activity, I cannot imagine how much is being spewed into their air on one so active as that.

The CO levels would be enormous, and because of the weight of CO, that caldera would have been full of it.

I CALL BS.
