Dove Season 2024!

My first dove season with my fiancé and son. (Step son to be official) We had good evening with friends. She shot 4 dove, he shot 4 dove and I had 8 dove, but found a 9th in my vest after cleaning dove. Lol.

I stopped to take a photo during the hunt.

Congrats to all who found a few. I didn’t go and thought I might’ve screwed up when I heard a volley of shots about 7 yesterday morning, but that was the only shots I heard. I drove 7 miles on county roads to get back to the highway and didn’t see a dozen doves, and from Salt Plains refuge to Blackwell, I probably didn’t see 50 total.

The Eurasian collared dove have about taken over where we hunt.

Haven't fired a shot. Haven't seen many, either. There has been a pair nesting in oak tree over my driveway for the last 4 years. Haven't seen them since Memorial Day.

The drought should help with concentrating around water holes, but it has been quiet.

Drove through my places this morning, lots cut corn and milo and hundreds of birds.

My son and a couple of his buddies found a few this morning. They had 42 at 9 o’clock and had to leave for family obligations or they would have shot a limit
