I have two different models. I can get a sharpened drill bit IF I get the setup perfect.

If I don't get it right, I have a high speed metal dowel rod. Spinning the bit once you have it clamped in the clamp is hard because you cannot just spin it, you have to physically hold it at the angle and spin it which is tough to do without four more hands. Two to hold down the machine and one to spin and one to hold it at the angle.

first become a professionally trained machinist, then spend 45 years sharpening drills like i have and then you are the Drill Doctor !! and yes start out learning how on the larger drills...FYI even with new drills i always use a pilot hole if i need the hole the size of the drill,,even a new drill may go oversize,in solid material.
