Edit: The Springer fairway is referring to the springer formation. They have since found the woodford productive in the same area. In some areas there are as many as 3 payable formations. It could be bigger than the Bakken shale in North Dakota which has a couple of stacked formations in areas.

Edit 2: There is also an "Eastern Scoop" that hasn't been much done with yet.

I don't want to derail the thread but, is the Devon Tower earthquake proof?

Just a stray thought.

No worries. Being the OP, maybe this topic should have been "Oklahoma Earthquakes" instead of one with a title indicating just Edmond. There have been some interesting arguments, on both sides, presented here.

My dad told me that he took his GI bill in Diesel technology at OSU after coming back from WWII because he was told that oil reserves would be depleted in the 80's.

Amazing how new technology has proven that wrong.

That is pretty interesting.

I wonder how many mineral owned in that area sold rather than leasing?

I know my mom did.

I think in the Springer wells south of Canute, there are 5 zones that were considered commercially viable when they were drilled. Mostly the late 70s and early 80s to my recollection.
