I've been delayed the 3-day limit a couple times, but things mostly go through without a hitch.

There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. :anyone:

I've only been delayed once, for a whopping 20 minutes. the rest of the time its been instant or pretty close to it.

If 10 republicans in the senate vote for it and all the democrats vote for it the law will pass. This may be really close.

Kind of makes me sad to see a place with a name like "Rocket FFL" make a big deal out of there being "NO Gunshow Loophole". There never was a gunshow loophole.

Now, one thing I have seen discussed on a few websites is that conceptually it is possible to implement universal background checks WITHOUT a registry. In theory, if NICS was opened to the public then it would be possible for me to meet John Doe at the Quik Trip, call it in and move on. To be honest, there's pros and cons with that method sure, but it is an interesting though experiment.

It is possible to implement it without a national registry, but it is impossible to enforce it without a registry.

That's certainly the pro and the con right there.

Enforcement would be possible, although it'd involve a lot of actual "work" on the part of the ATF. Like setting up old school sting operations and such. I would be willing to bet that most law abiding people would comply as well, since, well, that's what they do. The criminals would still criminal though obviously.

I get delayed every time I buy. Sometimes it takes a few hours, sometimes it takes the full three days but it’s always approved.

For what it's worth, I wouldn't delay you three days if you were buying from me.

I have a theory why I get delayed every time. I’ve posted it before.
The fact that I do puts a glimmer of hope in me that the background check system that is required to discard all info after the “check” is being followed.
One side of me wants it NOW!
The other side says the system is working and rules followed.
But, it’s the gubberment so all bets are off.
