We started putting out suet cakes a few weeks ago. I have to take them in a night or the raccoons claim them.
I've been pleasantly surprised by the variety. Several species of sparrows, juncos, wrens, cardinals, blue jays, 2 kinds of woodpeckers, finches (though they seem to have disappeared) and dozens of chickadees.

Chickadees will eat out of your hand. It takes a while, but worth the time.

I gave up using the feeders as too many birds for a couple of feeders, so now I spread the seed on our stone retaining wall that’s about 30ft long. Now my wife and I can enjoy watching the birds from our kitchen or breakfast nook table. We’ve had quite a few varieties visit over the last week
