Feral Pig/Hog Rifle

My brother is wanting to go feral pig/hog hunting in March. He's looking at a .556 "evil black" rifle. I suggested he go to a .308-caliber version, but he seems dead set on the .556.

He listed the Colt 6720 or an offering from BCM or Daniel Defense. He definitely wants the gun to have iron sights. He doesn't want to have to outfit it with a red dot or scope right off the bat.

What would you guys suggest?

Ruger 10/22. My buddy down by Hennyetta just did a simple trap and shot them with his 22. But me, my Mosin Nagant would work.
