I'm pretty sure we have all seen the "coverage" of the Ferguson riots and the "coverage" two stores that were guarded by their owners armed with rifles, shotguns and pistols.

And there are allusions to the LA riots where there were store owners protecting their stores with AR15s and shotguns.

These things got me thinking.

So, here are some of my questions.

You own a business in the area of the same kind of violence and rioting.
It is just going to be you and maybe one or two friends who are willing to stand in front of your business and make an armed presence visual.

At what point can you engage such a mob with force?
When they start to approach and "overrun" your parking area?
Once they are in your parking area and surging in numbers, if you tell them to leave and they don't they are Trespassing.
or
only once they have breached your business?

Does the "Castle Doctrine" apply to your business in this type of instance?

At what point do you apply those last few ounces of squeeze?

In Misery, I don't know, but, IIRC, the Oklahoma Legislature extended the Castle Doctrine to cover business owners within the last few years (after the Ersland case). Once you're in fear of bodily injury, you're justified in using force, but you can only shoot in defense of people, not in defense of property (unlike Texas).
