Glad no one was hurt. But I can only imagine living near a production plant like that and seeing a fire. I wouldn't know rather to stay and watch or head for the hills.

Unless the bullets are in a barrel they aren't going anywhere. The stores of powder will just make for a big-bada-boom.

Interesting how when a company has a major problem, usually already an expensive one to repair and get back to normal operation, some agency from the Government has to come in and tack on an additional fine to help them recover their losses.
Target of opportunity. Or just...

and living around Tulsa with refineries is any different, how?

Look at a pipeline map, same as a road map, but for underground lines. You may be surprised at what you are walking on.

Target of opportunity. Or just...

I worked in a chemical plant south of Houston. I was a first responder and we got a man down call. The man down was a friend of mine, I had known for years and worked with daily. He had died on top of a railcar while loading it. I drove the ambulance into town to the ER and was at the door to meet his wife when she arrived.

He had been diagnosed with a heart murmur when he was in Jr. High. He was told then that one day he would have a heart attack and be dead before he hit the ground, even if he was with the world's greatest heart doctors when it happened, nothing could be done. It could happen the next day or in 70 years, no way of knowing. He played HS and college football, was a great worker, friend, husband and father. At 36, his life ended.

OSHA came in 3 days later. 6 'inspectors' interviewed those of us involved with the incident, other workers, supervision and managers. Their final conclusion was 'no fault of the company or those involved' BUT fines were issued of $350k because of expenses incurred from the incident and visit.

WTF??????????????????????????

target of opportunity = YES
never let a crisis go to waste = YES
goobermint power trip = YES
workers any safer because of the inspection or goobermint oversight = HELL NO

elimination of OSHA, EPA, Energy, HUD, Education = Definitely.

Dept. of Energy established in 1978 by 'Pres. Peanut' to "get us off of foreign oil".
Annual budget of $550M and they have done such a marvelous job.

For the most part it's not. My comment was meant more as a stay and watch the "show" or pack up and go kind of thing. And yeah the high pressure lines through tulsa are crazy. I had to be certified through oprc to inspect co op meters. I've gotten to see what a high pressure line hit with a back hoe will do.

According to the article:

"Fire officials and the company say the fire happened at an unoccupied maintenance building that's not part of or adjacent to the property's production area.

The company says the site's manufacturing wasn't interrupted."
