Lowrance came out with 'Active Target'; similar to live scope, and I think pretty close in image quality.

Unless you run a Garmin or Lowrance trolling motor, 2D on the bow is all I use.
On the console, I typically run SI, charts and 2D. None of my units are linked and there have only been a few times when I wished they were. I am typically netting bait and chasing hybrid/striper. Occasionally I chase crappie and a few times in the winter we target blue cats.
If I were to redo my current set up and money went a consideration I would run linked Garmin units on the console and bow with a 2nd Lowrance on the console. I am familiar with the Lowrance touch screen and menus. I'd earth go with the Garmin TM or another Ulterra.

IIRC, to match my Humminbird setup with Garmin and add Panoptics to the bow, it would've been about $4,500 more.

I enjoy just cruising around watching the screens sometimes. It gives a person an inside look at where fish congregate during different times of the year.
Back in the day we stumbled on those locations, made a mental note and came back those locations year after year to catch fish not really knowing why.
One spot in particular is on a local lake. Crappie magnet in the spring. Never knew why, but years later with electronics, I found an old county road complete with a culvert. Guess where the crappie hotspot is.....right at the culvert.
May not have time this spring to get the Panoptix system or one similar installed, but it will happen.

Which makes it all the more frustrating when those pinhead fish skunk you completely. No matter how many times I tell those fish on my screens to "Bite Already!", they have their own agenda that doesn't necessarily include my baits! LOL
Spring is usually when any new electronics come out, I am still running Lowrance’s gen 3, linked to my Motor-guide pinpoint. Seems to do most all I need. I would really like a panoptix or similar for those crappie tho.
If chasing Walleye/Saugeye I am usually on the down scan screen with the topo. Regardless of what one buys it will be obsolete by next season.

Panoptics is what the guides on Keystone are using in open water to catch those state record paddlefish. People aren't just using them for crappie. Bass are schooling critters as well.

I just sold my boat two weeks ago and I took off both of my Depth/fish finders. I reinstalled the Hummingbird Helix 5 in the new boat and for some reason when I get between 25 and 40 miles per hour, the depth goes nuts. It switches between all depths from 40 feet to over 700 feet. It just changes constantly.
Any ideas why this is happening?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled many electronics in my boats but have never come across this.
But….. it works just fine at slow speeds.

I had one that did that from time to time, but I don't know what caused it. Is yours a thru-hull transducer, or mounted on the stern?
Based on advice from people smarter than me, I suggest tweaking the transducer mounting; maybe get it a little lower in the water.
