Unfortunately, so many times this motto is used by the leftists/liberals in order to nullify or shut down other's opinions. Maybe not in this case, but it is one of the tag lines that get thrown at me from white liberals fairly often.

There isn't one single kid in this country that doesn't have the opportunity to make his life better than that of his parents. While an individuals choices can lead to poverty, it's a vicious cycle that many cannot get out of. Not everyone gets the same opportunities. While some people can rise from the ashes not everyone can, regardless of how hard they try.
