Nah, if we can build the greatest socialized military program in the world, we can also build the greatest socialized healthcare program in the world.

To bad he is yet too uneducated to realize the ramifications of which he purports to believe.

I was a liberal, too, back in the day. I learned all my damned lessons the hard way. It's a wonder I can even form complete sentences any more I've been knocked in the head so many times -- most usually for my own "stupid".

I don't know how old he is or what kind of education he has so I can't comment to those. I do think he is a little bit misguided, but that doesn't make him a bad guy. Just a guy who makes me wonder what he's thinking.

There have been PLENTY of guys wonder the same thing about me. Too bad they didn't try to be as respectful of my opinions as I was of theirs. I tend to give back what I get. Most guys can't handle that kind of treatment. Little woman who doesn't know her place is always tough on a guy who gets a chubby when he sees gay porn but is trying desperately to make all the other guys in the room he's a man's MAN ... :anyone:

I fully support both a socialized military (as it is now) along with a socialized healthcare system.

And THAT is why I presume to know where you stand on a lot of issues. As clarification, in case there was any shred of doubt, I AM VEHEMENTLY against socialized medicine and will oppose you and those like you at every given opportunity. I disagree with socialism and will not bow to it. Where in your right mind do you think this is a good idea?

I am curious as to how you can consider a volunteer military force as socialized?

Except when "we" executed a "socialized" healthcare option for our military, we failed miserably.

Socialized ANYTHING more than what we already have terrifies me. In fact, if I could I'd back it up a bit. But then, I'm becoming more and more an isolationist. What the rest of the world does or doesn't do is there business. I think "promoting democracy" with our military has proven to be a dismal failure, otherwise the Middle East would be our crowning glory right now, not a ******* quagmire ... Can't play both sides of the fence, though that is what our "leaders" have been doing for decades.

I have a hard enough time fighting the doctors, who work for the insurance company, not me ... I DON'T wanna have to deal with the bottomless pit of governmental bureaucracy, too ... if I'm lucky I'll be dead and gone before that bell gets rung ...

Which means you'll be clearly wrong in many of those cases.

Are taxes to fund the military to protect the entire country voluntary? Nope, it's purely a socialized program where everyone contributes to fund the system for the greater good of the country. If you disagree with *all* things considered "socialism", then there is a fundamental conflict in supporting how we handle our socialized military and police systems.

Agreed, and nobody I've seen supports using it as is. The good news is we aren't stuck with that system. And, learning from that failure will help inform our design of the best system yet.
