Gar Fishing...

I just read that the limit for alligator gar is 1 per day. Is that correct? That seems really low for a fish that is so prevalent in our streams.

I have never seen any "alligator gar" in any of our creeks or streams around here. Long nose gar - yes, spotted gar - yes, short nose gar - yes but, never an alligator gar...

I sure would like to latch onto one of those big fellas though. That would be FUN!

Wait, I am way off then, I thought there was only two varieties, Alligator and Needle Nose.

Alligator gar in Oklahoma are going to be found in the Red River. Heavily bowfished in the Trinity and Brazos Rivers in Tx also. They're short/wide billed........and get large, like 200lb-280lb large.

Consider me schooled. It must be the shortnose gar I am used to seeing in the Kaw spillway.
