If you need to verify someone in the business, look here: http://www.ok.gov/health/Protective_Health/Occupational_Licensing_Division/Alarm_and_Locksmith_Program/ .
All companies, installers, and salesmen must be licensed by the state or they are operating illegally. I do not see a GE listed. Honeywell is, but not sure if it's the Honeywell or someone using their name and they are only listed for fire, access control and cctv.
I worked in the industry partime for years as an installer. Made great money and did know a few good salesman, but most are the ones who couldn't even make it as car salesman and just one step up from vacuum salesman (don't mean to step on anyone's toes if you're any of these...).
There is a small problem with this list. Electrical contractors and the journeyman and helpers who work for them are allowed to get a alarm endorsment on their electrical license. These license endorsments are not listed on these lists. I know because my name and my comapnies name are not on there.
I tell everyone the same thing as far as alarms go. Get estimates from several comapnies, and by all means read all the fine print. Some companies out there are trapping people into 4 and 5 year contracts. Us smaller companies cannot match the $99 installs or free installs, but if you figure up what we can save you over the contract term you would be amazed.
