I read the SDA to say that a property owner can charge you with trespassing if found carrying on their property. I just want the chance to leave without penalty of law if the business owner does not want me carrying there.

you'd have to find a cop willing to let them sign the citation though

and a cheaper option then a safe is to put it in the trunk if you got one.

I've never seen it put that way in the actual SDA. In fact last time I checked there was no penalty for disobeying a property owners prohibition of concealed carry and there would have to be a penalty outlined in order for it to be considered "illegal." Simply disobeying a "no guns" sign is not trespassing. Refusing to leave a property or returning to a property where you have been asked not to return is trespassing. (My first-hand knowledge of trespassing is based on the Tulsa ordinance...other municipalities and counties could be different I presume.)

What you said does, however, seem to be the popular consensus of the worst that could happen if you were caught carrying against a property owners wishes. In order to be charged with trespassing you'd have to ignore their sign, have them somehow know you are carrying and ask you to leave and then refuse to leave. If you do all those three things you're just stupid and deserve to be arrested for something.

you'd have to find a cop willing to let them sign the citation though.

This is definitely true in my experience. Most police officers I've encountered do not seem to want to write trespassing tickets for some reason.

The owner can't "charge" you with anything. He can have a LEO trespass warn you.If you don't leave, the LEO can either issue you a citation or arrest you.We do this occasionally at the hospital on other matters.

The hosp I work for has made it abundantly clear. They don't care what the law says: If you have a gun in your car at work, you WILL be fired, you will be accused of everything they can make up to ensure they've covered their tracks.

They know I'm a gun owner and I'm questioned about it endlessly. They try to trap me into admitting I have a gun on me or in the car. It makes for some frustrating days, I can assure you.

Where do you work?? St.Francis doesn't have anything like that.I work security there. If we find someone with a gun,we'll escort them to their car and let them put it in it.
