I'm for SQ 766. Government makes enough money off the profit I make from what I produce using my intangible assets. Otherwise, I could be taxed for every sketch I might make in the development of some idea I may have.
It's the same for whatever I have below the ground. Government can wait until I bring it up and make a profit off it.

I agree, this should be handled different. However the question is in our lap. Pass it, business gets a tax break.
How is this good for non business owners? Seems like the average citizen/homeowner will see a tax increase, to make up for the potential lost revenue.

Here's the deal: Business and patent owners pay less tax and spend the profit elsewhere thereby creating jobs. Business owners and patent owners aren't afraid of being taxed to death and aren't afraid to design and develop. This also creates more jobs and keeps prices lower in all cases. You see, these taxes are passed on to consumers via higher prices to cover the cost of these taxes. In essence these taxes are taxes upon YOU! They are indirect, but on you nonetheless.
