I am sitting here at the hospital with nothing better to do than read OSA :-)

My left arm started hurting earlier today for no obvious reason. By the time I was ready to leave work I realized that the pains had gotten worse and this probably couldn't be accounted for by the web browsing and heavy fork lifting I did with my right arm today.

So I checked the internet and every damn website says go have left arm, should, shoulder blade and chest symptoms checked out ASAP. Given that I think excercise is evil and grease is a food group, I am pretty sure I am a likely candidate for some heart problem at my age of 40+.

Well so far they have told me I'm not having a heart attack at the moment. I'm am not sure if I should be glad or mad. This would be my first ER trip for myself, ever. So I didn't come here because I'm overly cautious. Should I hope they find something so my trip is justified or hope I just got paranoid and wasted my money (and tested my insurance coverage)?

Oh well, if you guys don't hear from me again, I guess you know something bad happened (heart attack or had to pay the ER bill instead of my internet service.)

BTW, no government conspiracy. Just teasing. Though I enjoyed the post earlier about conspiracy theorist. I determined I am one except for a couple items like not actually believing the conspiracy theories.

2nd amendment isn't about hunting, but the last defense against our government. Check.
Government doesn't love me. Check.
WTC was a government conspiracy. Nope, don't by it.

Just remember that conspiricies do actually (and frequently) exist, and just like everything else, somebody's got at very least a half-cocked theory about it all......

I know what you mean.

Last November I started having a terrible pain in the center of my chest and it just kept getting worse.
After a couple of hours, convinced I was having a heart attack, I drove to the ER and checked in.

2 CAT scans, 1 chest Xray, and several blood tests later I found out that it was a gallstone attack.

Boy was I relieved.....

Till I got the bill.

It was almost 9,000 bucks.:eek2:

I had a panic attack a few years back, I had no idea what was happening to me, I went to the ER, They ran some test and let me sleep it off in the ER, then told me i was fine and I could go home. That was my first and last panic attack, and now i feel like a sissy for telling OSA!

Yeah man.....I went thru' an excruciating spell some time ago where I was in the worst physical pain I can remember.
(and that includes all of the times I've caught it "in the tip", combined!)

Pain was in the chest/ under rib area....it ended up being a surprisingly mild herniated diaphram situation but that wasn't realized until AFTER I had to take many drugs, drink nasty hospital stuff, and go thru' some imaging machines.
I'd go the the ER, they'd drill me with Morphine and ask me "how is the pain now?"
Well hell...I didn't hurt at all after the narcs so they'd send me on home....and I'd be back in the ER in 6hrs or so.

That was a nightmare episode, to be sure.
The only cool thing out of the deal was that I got to see a 3D image of my actual insides.....kinda' neat.
(it definitely looked like a state record liver to me, but maybe I'm just exagerating) :)

Ok ............ well let me be the first to say I hope you are okay! LOL After our car wreck I was so glad it was my right arm that hurt the worst (still does sometimes). At least that way I can tell if it is my neck or my heart that's giving me trouble ... Getting old ain't for the faint of heart, I tell ya! :)

I got freeked out by some of these comments on web sites.
Crap, I'm gonna die.
I did the entire heart, whatever process, and I'm not only OK but in no danger what so ever.

For those on the fence, get to your DR, and get piece of mind, or find our what your need to do..

Get to a DR

Go to a Cardiologist and have a stress test. At age 47 (2003) I started having some chest pains while at rest. After a couple of weeks of having them, wife insisted I go to the ER one night. EKG, chest x-ray all were normal. Diagnosed as maybe bronchitis, but was told to follow up with my regular Dr. A few days later my regular Dr told me I should see a Cardiologist for a stress test. A few days later I was on the treadmill failing the test horibly. Long story short, later that afternoon I was in the Cath Lab having my 99% blocked right coronary artery balooned and a stent installed. IMO, unless you are having a heart attach, an ER can't diagnose what a cardio stress test can.

I'm 47 but both my father and grandfather died around 65 of heart disease. My dad had multiple bypasses and heart attacks before he died about 2 years ago. Heart disease is something I fear so I take a low dose asprin every day and am going to schedule a heart scan sometime this year. All this to say, be proactive about your heart health.
