Heritage Rough Rider .22 LR

This was the “gateway” gun to my shooting addiction. I still love to shoot it and it looks nice with the cocobolo wood grips (not laminate). When I took it to three range when there was a class going on, everyone wants to see it. The only problem I had with is was the screw that holds the extractor rod on fell out and the spring launched the extractor out onto the range. Now I know to check it more frequently. My wife likes shooting it, too.

The gun should be named The Congressman because it won't work and you can't fire it.

I keep seeing ads for these, and now the Ruger Wrangler, and kinda think I want one, but I just don't know why...

I've had both the 6.5 and 4.5 inch Rough Riders . . . the 4.5 inch with a 22LR and 22Mag cylinders are pretty cool for the price.

Atwoods has them for a $100 from time to time. You can even find them cheaper than that on black Friday. I haven't found a better $115 gun. Just make sure you check all the screws from time to time.

Adademy used to put them on sale on Black Friday for $99, but I haven't noticed them the last year or two.

The Rough Rider was my first single action revolver. Great gun, had one hiccup when the hand broke after several years of shooting but that was easy enough to replace, and yes, the ejector rod screw does have a tendency to back out. It is still a good value and a good choice for first timers.
That gun is the reason I fell in love with single actions. It is indeed a "gateway" gun.
