A little secret most people don't know and took me a long time to figure out.
Almost all successful shops the owner had outside income.
I ran my shop 20 years But, I lived at home with my parents and didn't really care about money that much.
I did it for the love of figuring out what was wrong with the gun and repairing it.
One day I decided I wanted something more (get married ,have kids etc) so I closed up and moved on.
This is what I learned.
I could probably go on and on about other shops owners but basically as I talked to many others
I found they all had outside incomes.
Retired or disabled military
Retired or disabled LE
Took early retirement
Sold a business and pursued their dream
Farmer/rancher doing it in the off times
Rental properties
Trust fund baby
and on and on.
They are doing it for the pleasure not the money

Lots of truth in this post. ^^^^^ Some rural and small town gun shops don't open until 5:00 pm because the owner is working their full time job.
