If there's no one in front of me, I'm usually doing 65 by the time I need to merge, so it's a moot point. However, I had the same thing happen to me twice on my way home today. Look over my left shoulder, coast is clear, look back forward *SCRREEEE* ******* in front of me is on his brakes....

I deal with it all day. I agree that is is unsafe when people just stop on the ramp, but I have people everyday just pull out like there is not a yield sign at all. I try to adjust, but when you are in 75 ft of truck that is pushing 80,000lbs it is hard to just slow down quick. I wish all people would hit the gas and come on. I flash my lights at people to let them know to come on, but most just put out into the lane. I see people who are trying to text, eat, drink and whatever else just pull out on the interstate at about 50 mph. I had a girl at Norman the other day come down the ramp and then flip me off because I would not run over the car next to me and let her out. She drove down the sholder until she could get in front of me. Slowing down and getting behind me never crossed her mind. Most of the time, just put down the phone and give it some gas.

I hate when people merge onto a 70mph highway at 50 or less. Maybe if they called them acceleration ramps people would get a clue

If I remember right, the Driver's Ed book called the section at the bottom parallel to the highway "acceleration lanes" for use after you yielded. Those must be designed for some lightweight trucks or high powered cars, especially the one at Exit 71 on I-40E.

I never stop at a yield sign unless someone in front of me is stopped (and I have no choice). Otherwise, I speed up and force my way on.

What totally makes me want to go postal is the idiots coming on to the highway from a ramp, thinking they have a right of way with a cell phone stuck in their stupid ears. They don't even notice you CAN'T move over and give the one finger salute while driving on the shoulder.....thank God, I'm not one of the road rage type of people.

I tend to stay out of the right lane when approaching on ramps... simple courtesy though I have right of way..

Exactly. I see both sides of the issue. But I HATE when I'm trying to get on the highway and there is a car in the right lane and the A-hole just doesn't wanna let you over even though he could move over a lane to be courtesy . But you also get the people that refuse to yield and get behind if you can't get over and they think your the douche for not scooting over to let them on. So they drive on the shoulder honking and giving you the finger. I sometimes wish I worked @ the DMV, I would fail sooooooooooooooooooo many drivers for simply being a tard
