Back in the day I was hunting public land (for anything in season) in Kansas and I caught movement in a row of hedge apple trees....apparently the squirrels had developed a taste for them so I shot a couple and took them home for mama to fry up for me.

I was sitting in the living room while she was frying them and this gawd awful smell hit my nose and come to find out it was the squirrels that had been eating hedge apples.....not wanting to waste them I took them outside and tossed them over the fence for the neighbors dog to eat and he loved them.
