All that said, "concealed means concealed" doesn't work in those stupid gowns. Or if the doc/nurse asks you to lift up your shirt or drop your pants...or you need any sort of radiological procedure (especially an MRI), all of which are real (and legitimate) possibilities.

Stupid shite. We had a bunch of people get in a tizzy the other day because a patient presented who was a cop, but was off-duty. He had his firearm with him, of course. They were running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get someone in administration to tell them what to do. Options ranged from asking him to take it back to his vehicle to having hospital security take the weapon to lockup - which I think is f***ing hysterical, since security cannot have a gun, a knife, a baton or pepper spray themselves. They were going so far as discussing whether he was technically off-duty, since as a cop he could always be considered "on call".

It was the most ridiculous circle-jerk of a bunch of whiny little ninnies I think I've seen in a very long time. I made it a point to tell them what a ridiculous waste of effort and corporate idiocy it all was. I mean, come on, get real, do we not have anything better to do than running around wetting our f***ing adult diapers wondering if a cop should be trusted with a gun?

Bottom line is, if it's not the V.A., then I'd say carry on. I'm not sure about the OU/OSU-run hospitals, in terms of if they are considered a state entity or not? I know it's not considered part of the campus, but I forget the wording of the law as it pertains to city/county/state doing business with the public, and how it would apply in that situation.

That is one of the few times I off body carry. I generally have my tablet with me in a case and the only time I put it down is when I am in the room. Doctors never know about it nor even think about it. The only time I didn't carry is when I had surgery on my shoulder, kinda hard to be safe coming out of anesthesia and on pain meds. Was off those things within two weeks though.

As far as the wording for the SDA what I find is:

Any structure, building, or office space which is owned or leased by a city, town, county, state or federal governmental authority for the purpose of conducting business with the public.

Doesn't even begin to describe it... I'm telling you, people were like hyperventilating, flitting and fluttering around looking anxious and afraid, thought a few were going to need oxygen. I was utterly flabbergasted - and disgusted. Like I said, I definitely pointed out to them what complete morons and California-style ninnies they were.

What happens if you are in a wreck unconscious and have a legally concealed handgun on your person. EMT's or officers at the scene pat you down or does the ER staff find it and have a cow. I would think there would be a policy for that. I'll have to ask security at Baptist just for fun. I know the security staff at Baptist carry pepper spray, tasers and side arms.

Your weapon will mysteriously disappear before you regain consciousness and no one will know what happened to it.
