I really want to cancel my cable services because between Netflix and Hulu plus and the Digital antenna I should be able to see all the shows and movies I want, but I also watch all college football games (and by all I mean as many as I possibly can, including flipping back and forth incessantly between games to keep up with them which irritates the heck out of the wife) as well as NFL, NBA, College Basketball, and the occasional MLB. Will watchespn be enough for me or are there other options that would be better? At the very minimum I want to watch all College Football games, but would prefer to see all of the aforementioned sports! Thanks!

Well - after spending the entire 1979 NFL season in South America and thinking about what I'd missed, how much of my time it took up and the occassional gambling loss I haven't watched sports since.

I don't miss it at all though with a 4 year old son I may have to take up going to live baseball games and watching football on TV again as that's a fairly fun father/son activity.

It has cut down on the number of televised sporting events I watch, but I don't miss it. It has increased the number of Thunder games I attend & that I enjoy. I get my sports news on the radio, in the newspaper and on the internet. The only thing I still miss after having no cable since May is the home improvement/flip shows and occasionally the Turtle Man. LOL!

I don't know the cost for all the packages, but Dish and Direct TV have packages available for all the sports. Subscribe to the basic package and add all the sports packages you want. The basic package from Dish costs about $30.00 per month. I believe they are offering free installation now.

Like some of the others have said, I don't miss it. A friend of mine once said, "I try to not make a hobby out of watching other people do." i adopted that philosophy. I feel like my time is spent doing things more important to me and my family. Of course, when there is a large group/ family gathering and all the men are gathered watching/talking televised sports I feel out of place. Lol

The one thing you can not replace is time. I know of no man, on his deathbed, to have said, "I wish I would of watched more t.v."

I kicked my cable to the curb last month! took my bill from 215 to 61.00 and that includes my high speed internet, netflix and amazon prime account fees. I don't use hulu plus. I bought a roku & it is awesome it has MLB channel but im not a baseball fan so im not sure if there is a small monthly fee for it or not. There is a UFC channel and the UFC ppv fights are 44.95 which is about 10 bucks cheaper than what cox was charging. We bought a digital antenna at walmart for about 20 bucks and get hi def local channels. NFL is on NBC so my hubby is good there. You can also hook a laptop into your tv with an hdmi cable and watch some channels on your tv from your laptop monitor.
Im kind of a nerd so the only channel I was sad about losing is syfy LOL but I can stream it from their website right to my tv screen so im good to go. For college games I guess we can go to friends house and bum off them?
