The IRS sent me a bill for a dollar once. I mailed it in and shortly got a letter asking what the dollar was for with a check for a dollar enclosed.

Send them a buck fifty the next time and don't ever cash the refund check they send. Totally screws up their bookkeeping.
I got a bogus speeding ticket from a town in Tx widely known for being a speed trap. Sent them a check for the fine, and added a buck. They sent that dollar back to me in a check which went into the trash.
My wife spent over 40 years as an accountant. She said that is the thorn in the side of every accountant when the books don't match up at the end of the year and when the auditors come around and they can't just write it off.

IRS is 99.99% computer run. File electronically and make sure your return matches what other 3rd parties have reported to the IRS.

This solves nearly every problem.
