Sep 72. 4 of us graduated San Diego boot camp. Driving to Port Hueneme, stopped at a k-mart and each of us bought a .22. Mine was a marlin Glenfield model 25 with a 4x weaver scope, $19.95. A brick of federal wildcat, $4.99. Still have the rifle.

I got some money on my 9th birthday (1989), told my parents I was buying a gun and they laughed. I snuck out of my party, went across the street to an elderly neighbor’s that I was very close to, and $20 later I returned with a Colt Frontier Scout, with the LR and magnum cylinders, western belt and holster he had made, and a few boxes of ammo. I walked in wearing it and everyone was as speechless, lol. I will never sell it. A few years after that he gave me a marlin 39a and an m1 carbine, which I still have.
