Too funny. It seems like every year we have one rogue hummer that keeps beating on the others, trying to keep them away from the goodies. They are a lot more violent than a person would think.
We had to seperate our feeders because of the bullies. Even with 20' between them the bully bird tries to protect both, but while he's fighting with one, the others hit the one he left. Pretty comical.

We used to keep a feeder out (back when sweetie could refill it), and I put a coat-hanger wire perch on a T-post at the edge of the patio for them.

One year, we had a bumper crop and a "bully" that commandeered the perch and the feeder. Lol, well, he tried to anyway.

There were just too many other birds. He would literally wear himself out flying from the perch to the feeder and back to fend off rivals. I've never seen a hummingbird fly so slowly.

Good thing a neighborhood cat didn't show up, the poor guy would have never had a chance. :D
