I have the fever for a 1911 pistol but lots of options can you all help?

Not to hijack and I haven't read the entire article but if you're not quite decided on the 1911, read the American Rifleman Jan. 2011 edition article;

Although I own and like 1911's but carry a Glock, it makes me want to buy another one.

Colt or Kimber for me. I stay away from Para's.
Dan Wesson any one like and can they be had for around $1000?
STI Spartan or Trojan's are the only way to go.
i have a dan wesson valor and love it verry much.....but at that price you must be talking used..................
There are out there, but either used or the more basic models. That said, a more basic DW is still fairly well appointed.

NIB for right at $1000 but I could be remembering it wrong. It was at Second Hand Rose in Tulsa. I was looking more at bobtails that day.
Yeah, I've heard good things about the Valor. I think they're starting to price themselves out of the market though. Average on Gunbroker is around $1499. Heck for $600 - $700 more you're getting into the Wilson, Brown, Baer, Nighthawk range. Why not just save a couple more bucks? Although, if I could get one (NIB) for $1000, I'd snap it up.
