I would go for a perfectly reliable EAA Witness Elite Limited in 10mm

[Broken External Image]

As you can see it has tapped holes for a scope mount.
A competent smith could fit a 40S&W barrel to the 10mm slide. 9mm uppers are available with fitting, too.

If it came to push or shove, I'd have to go with my S&W 624 in its 3" variant. I can load mild or wild, is very well balanced, and easy to conceal.

Tough call.

Since I have a really slick Winchester Trapper in 44mag it might have to be my 4" M629 (no dash) that MagNaPort tuned. Gun was a college graduation gift from late brother and has the smoothest action job I have ever felt on a wheel gun.

It would be my S&W Mountain Gun 4" in .45 Colt. What can it NOT do? CCW? Yep. With .45 colt shotshells, small critter and snake defense? Hunt deer? Yep, out to 30 or 40 yards anyway. Yep. Take down a Cape Buff with a Buffalo Bore or Garrett load, with precise shot placement and some BIG brass ones? Yep, it could in a pinch. Utter reliability with any and all mixed & matched ammo? Yep.

A 3.5", 4.0" or 4.5" DA revo in .45 Colt is the ultimate in just one handgun versatility IMO. Substitute .44 mag if you like.

I generally prefer semi-autos over revos, and a good 10mm auto is very versatile too, but you just can't beat this rig for a "just one". Thankfully, it will never come to that nightmare. :)

I'd go with the 357. I've got a lever gun that shoots the same caliber.
Makes sense if I'm limited to one handgun to be able to dupe the rifle round.
