Dude it's Lisa Madigan you understand everything perfectly.

E: For those of you who aren't aware, the Madigan family is a pretty big name in the Illinois Political Machine.

Gotta have a Firearms Owners ID card to buy gun or ammo in Illinois. Yes, they do have gun stores.

Don't you think they kinda already have a list of firearms owners, if they require a FOID to buy guns & ammo?

If you want to read some draconian firearms regulations see this link http://www.isp.state.il.us/foid/ordinances.cfm Most of the ugly regulations are upstate, in the Chicago metro area.

Don't know if they have actual gun registration or not, but they "register" the owners through the FOID card system. As I understand it, you can't buy a gun there without it.

Hahaha I still have mine in my wallet :D

AFAIK you can buy ammo in IL if you're from out-of-state only if you have a current IL hunting license. Mine doesn't expire until 2020 though so I'm keeping it around in case I need to buy ammo around there sometime soon.

For a good time: go to an Illinois gun store and talk to the clerks about how much you LOVE having a concealed carry permit, how you plan on buying some NFA guns after your tax return comes, and your rifle (not shotgun) that you use for hunting deer. They will actually turn green with envy. I've seen it.

Being from IL my best friend still lives there and i piss him off weekly talking bout OK laws compared to IL. What gets him the most is waiting periods.
