One of the local Game Wardens carried an M14 up front with him.

Colorado State Troopers at one time or maybe still carried a M14 in their vehicles.

So did the ODWC here but they were taken by DoD when the GWOT went into full swing those guns were all part of the 1033 program

I met one of those guys and saw that he had one mounted next to a shotgun in the cab. I asked him about the happy switch and he told me that they were issued semi auto and he had purchased and installed the extra parts himself.

OCPD does too. They were purchased brand new and still in the vault.

When I was on the Town Council at Valliant we had two Thompson. They were kept in the vault at the bank across the street. We sold them to another PD, and bought new radio equipment for the patrol cars with the proceeds.

Local OHP had an Ithaca 10g in his car when I was a kid. The troopers I knew carried S&W model 19 or model 25 in 45 Colt.
I know one had a M2 Carbine with 30rnd mags and another had a M 14 with a scope
