Got a letter from IRS today and dreaded opening it. They say I have a $775 credit and they have never received my 2020 tax return. I have a copy of the check they processed on 4-5 for $775 that was sent in the same envelope as my tax return. The letter says I need to send a copy of the return so I’ll do that. Gives me greater confidence in them. Last year they told me they didn’t have my account info to send my stimulus check to although they had debited my payment from the exact account. Gotta love them.

I had the same thing happen to me some years back had to send my return and a copy of the canceled check to them 4 times cause they kept saying they didnt receive it so the last time i sent registered mail with signature never heard anymore from them.

IRS said they lost my 2019 return even though they cashed my check & I had the certified mail receipt. So I sent them a copy of my taxes per their request. I talked to them by phone. Was legit

The Infernal Revenue Service is never legit.

Always use registered mail when corresponding with the IRS.

Paper. The only year out of the last 8 that I did that. Lesson learned.
