I've search the internet on this subject, but keep getting different results so I'm just wondering what the consensus is here. I want to work on my trigger pull using a Marlin 795 Liberty Training Rifle.

You get different results because there are different answers. Some makes/models of .22 are fine, some are not. Check Marlin's website and see if they say specifically for your gun. If you don't find an answer there, call 'em.

Fired (repeat FIRED) .22 brass or proper sized drywall anchors will give a few uses before they must be rotated in the chamber for more firing pin "smacks".

I only know of one older Browning pistol specifically designed with a firing pin lockout to permit dry fire.

Read gun smithing info once upon a time that dry firing a .22 can introduce a burr into the chamber. This can cause problems. Remedy as indicated was to use a chamber reamer to remove the offending burr.

Ruger transfer bar equipped guns are the only that I know of that you can dry fire without damage. I would contact Marlin and do whatever they recommend.

My 10/22 firing pin has a stop which prevents it from contacting the chamber or the face of the barrel, same with my MKII and MKIII pistols. They can be designed to be dry fired. Check the owners manual or contact the maker.
