Musings on a Sunday morning. Piñon is pine. It’s an oil wood. Why don’t we do the same with red cedar? Legitimate question. I love the smell of piñon and I love the smell of cedar. Get rid of a pesky tree and enjoy the incense. Am I wrong?
When you burn pine in a fire it smells nice as does oak or many other hard woods.
When you burn Oklahoma cedar it smells like a chemical fire.
Just awful.
I burn a lot of it to heat the home but if the wind is calm and the smoke will settle in a neighbors yard or my yard i will not burn it as it smells that bad.
You sand it or burn it with sandpaper it smells different than in a fireplace.
