I was never a fan of that test. Had an old doc one time that told me that nobody seems to enjoy it, but think of him. He's the poor guy that has to stick his finger in everybody's butt. Hard to beat a doc that has a sense of humor.

You mean you go to a male doc for a prostate exam?? Good grief. I bet you go to a male dentist & barber too.
I stopped doing that about 20 yrs ago, & switched to lady docs, etc. The exam & dental care still isn’t any fun, but at least it’s not creepy

When I am screening a doc, the gender is irrelevant, quality of care is #1. One of the few benefits of having prostate cancer, and having my prostate removed, is I no longer need a digital exam as part of my physicals.

The doc that did my breast reduction was the same way. He has a wise crack for EVERYTHING. Man was in his 80s and still doing surgeries. He was a hard knocker, for sure.

Doctor I had would get interns in and one time they were there during my annual. The intern, she asked if she could do my exam, and she was about 5'0" nothing, and tiny hands. I agreed quickly!

Get the test guys. If your doc will go along with it and you or your family do not have a history of it, you can probably do what I call the Poop In A Box test. Which is really just a smear test. Do not fill the box unless they really piss you off, or your are sending it your lest favorite political type.

I prefer it too. I have had two colonoscopies and the home test twice. Told the doc unless something showed up on the home test he would never be looking up my old address again.

The procedure is called a "Digital Rectal Exam". Those things on the ends of your hands are called digits...

That's what I've always wondered about OB/GYNs.
