Running them over is a little over the top lol. Clipping them maybe. Heh.

Can't blame them as much as you can the parents. Next time park. And say "Let's play a new game!". It's called beat the teenager! Blah. Can't do that either.

Your right furlong. My Momma would have been in the news everyday. But she never had to bail any of us five kids out of jail and she raised us respecting other people.

I hit a young'un, just barely, more of a tap really, years ago who ran into the street from behind a parked car. Thank goodness I was driving slow enough I was able to stop soon enough that I didn't run over him. The child wasn't hurt but I was traumatized. It still spooks me to drive down a street with cars parked on either side. I dunno what to say about kids in the street refusing to get out of the way. It's both arrogant and stupid and it would definitely torque me off. I would guess they're the result of a poor upbringing.

This is where parenting and general knowledge have failed. Kids today and most parents believe they're entitled to everything. They think they're entitled to the roadway because they're walking on it. They've also been taught that pedestrians have the right of way. Not true. The only time a pedestrian has the right of way is in a crosswalk. If you're driving down the road, obeying the speed limit and traffic signals and some person runs out in front of you and you hit them, you are not in the wrong as long as you sound your horn at the same time.

It is not just kids ... I live in an "Empty Nester" neighborhood complete with sidewalks on both sides of the street and the residents still walk in the street.

Which is actually illegal. If a sidewalk is provided all pedestrians must use it. The only time pedestrians are allowed to walk in the roadway is when a sidewalk is not present or blocked.
