Cold bore command fire exercise, 5 rounds of 168gr TAP at 190 yards.

Drew a target number out of a hat, held on the target for that many minutes (#3 for 3 minutes, etc), fired when the timer went off. The timer audio is a recording of my partner saying "Standby to fire...fire" at different volumes. Not a bad way to spend a few hours.

For nostalgia or whatever, I rescoped and sighted in my first “deer“ rifle today. My parents gave me this old Ruger M77 Ultralite 270 Win around 1985, and I took the original Tasco Pronghorn 3-9 off and replaced it with a Leupold VariX III 3.5-10. After the first shot, I remembered why I quit using it about 25 years ago. It kicks like a mule.

I picked up a “new” scope for my daughter’s Encore this week and took a little time this morning to sight it in. It’s an older Nikon Buckmaster 3-9.:thumb:
I’ve offered to take my daughter’s boyfriend hunting, but I told him he’ll have to use her rifle. He declined. :anyone:

Ha, my first deer rifle was a lefty Remington BDL in 270WIN and I had the O/U style scope rings so I can use open sights or the scope depending on cheek weld. I have been window shopping a good lower magnification scope to put on it with shorter scope rings. Id like to carry it again.

When we went to pick it out for my birthday, there were two left handed bolt actions in stock. This one and another BDL in 7mmMag. I really enjoy this rifle, but I wonder if I really saved my shoulder much abuse over the magnum round haha.
