Went to Snake Creek range today along with my son and his soon to be step-son who's 11 years old. We taught him basic firearm safety and range protocol. He enjoyed shooting my 597 and TX22 (both suppressed) and quickly learned about firearm operations. We allowed him one shot on an AR. On the pistol range he was shooting at a Zombie Target which he took home and I'm sure it's already mounted on the backside of his bedroom door.

Got a little range time in today with my Grandson while he's home from college. I knew he was my shooting buddy when he went to the range for the first time when he was about 7 years old because after firing his first shot, he looked at me and said "Grandpa we are not leaving until I can hit the bullseye" :D

The red custom 10/22 is his personal gun built the way he wanted. A fun project for both of us.

Texas afterthought muzzleloader season opens tomorrow and runs until the 19th, and I sighted a new to me TC Omega this afternoon. I really like hunting with red dots, and I had this Holosun 509t not on a gun. I really like the combo.
I got it sighted in with the second shot, but I ended up shooting several times just because it’s fun to shoot. It’s a mild load of 50 grains BH209 with a cheap 260 grain cast lead bullet in a Harvester black crush rib sabot, and I used CCI 209 magnum primers for ignition.
I may or may not hunt during this season, but it was fun shooting the gun.
