So i'm thinking about popping my 1911 cherry but i'm unsure what brand to stay away from and which one to lean towards. I would like to keep it under or around 1K so what would you recommend?

You can find a plethora of great 1911s under 1K. I'd go new or used Colt first. Everything else is a copy, including my Ruger, but I wanted a Ruger SR1911 real bad.

One of the first examples of the 1911 commercial pistol. Serial number left side forward of frame, "Government Model" right side forward. High luster blue finish. This pistol was one of 98 pistols assembled on the first day of production of the Commercial series "Government Model" pistols- March 9, 1912.

Fit a Wilson drop-in beaver tail onto my Colt Combat Commander.

Very little gap and except for the brownish color, it looks like it belongs. Feels great, too!
