@bigred1 and @retrieverman Giving a dog a happy forever home is very rewarding for all involved. When Covid first started, our big boy, Arlo, showed up in the yard. He was very energetic to say the least. I’m pretty sure that he was too much dog for someone, and they just dumped him. By giving him attention every day, he is now a great mostly well mannered boy. He was hesitant about going for rides at first, but now he makes me take him out and about. We’re currently down to three dogs after loosing two over the last year (one due to old age and the other was completely unexpected). All of our dogs have been rescues in one way or another. Here’s a couple pics of Arlo.

Your pup looks fat, healthy and contented....very nice looking companion you have. I always tell Mother our dogs found a bird nest on the ground when they found us but I'm thinking yours found a nice nest down your way too.

This is our ‘stealthy’ German Shepherd (Dixie) in our field in Alabama. We rescued her from a pending execution at a Veterinarian’s office. Her history describes a dog that was chained in a back your in a residential area. Now she’s free to roam around 15 acres with a 5 acre lake, but she prefers to stay in the house. Sweetest dog I’ve ever met…..

Why do people get a breed of dog that they really know nothing about? This one started growing up and they didn't want him anymore. The Circle P is turning into a Rottweiler refuge. Slowly working this fella into the pack. I didn't care for his name so it is now Bruno (AKA: Mooch). He's 13 months old and very smart so he and I are going to school since I didn't get him as a puppy. That way we'll be on the same page and get rid of some bad habits. Poor fella stayed in his crate too much and needs to be socialized.

Poor pup is starved for attention but he's getting better about not putting my hold hand in his mouth and crunching it a little. These kind of dogs you can't put your hand over their head and try to pet em til they know you really well. They consider it trying to dominate them and Bruno really focuses on your hands and where they are at all times. I've been coming from the side or under his chin with my fingers tucked in. Boy, he's fast though. You get a little chomp before you know it. He's learning and getting better about letting me show him affection.
